Chanting and Meditation: The Open Heart of Joy
Sun, Jul 29, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm UTC-7
| $30Join us for this midsummer’s evening celebration of joy and aliveness. Using the ancient and sublime blend of chanting and meditation, we open the heart of infinite love. Some will dance, some will soak in the stillness. All will be reminded that joy is like the sun, always shining within, as part of our deepest nature. Chanting and meditation dispel the clouds that seem to obscure the sunlight and expansive view of our sky-like nature. We sing and dance in joy for our homecoming! Through call-and-response group chanting, Jai guides beginning and experienced chanters to an ecstatic remembrance of the sacred.

DEBRA CHAMBERLIN-TAYLOR has been leading retreats since 1978. In addition to practicing Vipassana, she has been influenced by Dzogchen and Diamond Heart®. She also leads workshops on embodiment of awareness and conscious relationships.
JAI UTTAL – In 30 years of commitment to the art and spiritual practice of kirtan, Jai Uttal has cultivated a voice and musical style that carries the listener into the heart of devotion, prayer, and healing, and to an ecstatic remembrance of the divine. Often performing with his “Pagan Love Orchestra,” Jai is considered a pioneer in the world music scene. He has studied for many years with Ali Akbar Khan for traditional voice training and to learn the sarod, a 25-stringed Indian instrument. He traveled to India where he studied yoga under Neem Karoli Baba and was also deeply inspired by the Bauls, the wandering street musicians of Bengal. Jai settled among them, communicating only through music, which ultimately helped establish his unique style.
